Feeling Pretty Grateful

Right now, I am filled with incredible gratefulness to Hillary Clinton for her gracious, empowering, inspiring and eloquent speech at the Democratic Convention last night. It must have been extremely difficult for her to reach the point where she could stand before that crowd, letting her powerful gift of presentation lift her above her own hurt to evoke such emotion in both those who have always supported Barack, and those who truly truly, from the very bottom of their toes, wanted Hillary as their leader. But as Hillary so beautifully pointed out, it is the very same passion that drives both devotees. It is the feeling that Harriett Tubman brings forth, even now, hundreds of years later. WE WANT TO BE LEAD OUT OF THE DARKNESS. Harriett is the perfect metaphor (or example); a BLACK WOMAN. Hillary is genius, I will give her that. I think she may even understand, and maybe even pointed gently in that direction, that she understands why she could not be vice president. We must win this, and if there exists even an ounce of prejudice toward women and blacks (which there most certainly does) still in our sometimes twisted, sometimes brilliant country, it must be squelched. We will reach the day when ANYONE with the right qualifications and vision, no matter what their physical packaging, can do whatever they want, and Hillary has moved us in that direction far more than any individual has in a very long time. Sit back and watch her ripple effect… and embrace our new President, Barack Obama!
